I was born August 4 th 1957. My parents could not find me a right name for quite a long time. One day my uncle Aleksandr stopped by and said ''Why not Aleksandr, very nice name! indeed." I am 53 now, and my name is Aleksandr!
At the age six, my mother decided that it was time for me to become familiar with the world of music. It was her biggest dream that her kids would learn how to play piano.''Not like I did not know what music was .I was hearing it before I was born in my mother's womb. She sang for me quite often and what a beauty her voice was. And I am proud to say that it still is!."
At the music school they checked if I am talented enough to become a musician and offered me the cello as instrument.
''Only piano" - my mother said and piano it was. Ever since she guided me through, showing her uncondithional love and patience, sitting next to me, making sure I wouldn't sneak outside. I love you, mom. Because of you, I have music in my life.
My first and only piano teacher was my uncle, Roman Martirosov, my mother's cousin. Because of him, I was able to show good skills as a piano player at an early age. Later I realized that he was absolutely the right teacher for me. I was blessed, guided by my guardian angel, to meet the right people in my life.
In 1976 I moved to Russia to continue my music education as a choir conductor. One of the disciplines there was classical singing. An Ukranian dramatic baritone,extraordinary voice Nicolai Kirichenko, became my first voice teacher. He inspired me to start singing classical repertoire. Opera became my life from that time on. God rests his soul, he passed away 15 years ago and that was very sad news to me.
After accomplishing a four-year course in choir conducting, I realized that I would be completely happy singing on stage. Now becoming a performer, an opera singer, became my dream.
In 1980 I moved to Moscow to study voice with a great pianist, intelligent man,classical baritone, Eugene Krestinsky. All his students, we were like a big family, always surrounded by his and his wife's love. Five years studying with him were the best in my life. Due to him I learned many secrets of singing, many secrets of music, and many secrets of life....
I live in San Diego now,one of the best cities in United States, with my lovely wife. My family loves and supports me. My life as a song is in fact becoming my motto, hence my Internet domain name.
